In recent years the ICT4D field has changed its focuse profoundly mainly to the wide use of mobile phones. Africa has the highest growing rates of mobile subscribers, while other ACP (African-Caribean-Pacific) countries have witnessed similar developments. Within a few years over a billion people have had now access to information and communication technologies. Although the mobile phone dissemination is most remarkable, many other methods of access and new channels for exchange have emerged in the last years. What does that mean for the potential of new service models? How can the success of mobile market information systems or m-banking be adopted for other services particularly in rural areas and for farmers?

This Wiki is developed in preparation of the ICT observatory to showcase various examples across the world for new service models. The wiki has a holistic approach to present the wider possibilities of service models particularly in rural areas.

Therefore, it first highlights many different methods of access to ICT's and channels to deliver information in order to reach all possible audiences. Each channel and the different service models offer various different examples to explore further the new potential of service models.

Secondly, it offers a wide list of examples for various different service models.

The statistical page lists various resources to explore the latest trends around ICTs in ACP countries.
